Implant

Implantology is a technique whereby a natural-looking tooth implant is made to fit the spot where a tooth was lost. Compared to traditional false teeth and dental bridges, the characteristics of implantation are increased efficiency of bite, better oral hygiene, clearer pronunciation, and less discomfort.

Research has shown that with implantation, remaining teeth can be in use for a longer period of time when compared to other treatment methods because implants allow for the fitting of teeth with less impact on other healthy teeth.

In the past it was common to use a traditional, dental bridge which is accomplished using a technique that necessitates the shaving down of the sides of both adjacent teeth. However, because implantation does not involve shaving healthy teeth, and recovers only the missing tooth, it’s the first choice in dentistry today.

Implantation Flow

Examination
We diagnose a patient’s intraoral health condition. We take photos and keep them for recording purposes. The picture on the left was taken prior to implantation, showing the condition of one tooth missing.

Building Foundation
We conduct an operation to insert an implant. Monitoring time is several weeks to a few months as we wait to see how the implant has taken hold in the body. (There are differences in the waiting period based on each individual and where the implant is located.)

The Abutment

The Crown
When the implant has taken hold in the bone and the gums are settled, we take a mold and design the final crown.
