All-Ceramic Crown

For crowns, we use all-ceramic and ceramic-molded veneers. An all-ceramic crown is a crown free from any metal. With the ability to approximate a real tooth in terms of transparency and color tone, it’s almost indistinguishable from a natural tooth. Shapes and colors are easy to modify, so the crown can be adjusted to the patient’s choice.

*The adjacent tooth is made from a base of metal and covered with an additional thin cosmetic material.

Difference in transparency between all-ceramic crowns and predominantly metal crowns

An all-ceramic crowned tooth, free from any metal, is transparent, and has the natural luminesce of a real tooth. On the other hand, a crown constructed mainly of metal ends up blocking light, and as a result, can’t mimic a natural tooth’s transparency.

Treatment Case Studies

The teeth on the left of the picture below (the patient’s upper right teeth) are discolored and brown.

When the nerve of a tooth is removed due to decay, it has a tendency to discolor and become brittle over time. A brown tooth like the one in the image above might cause concern one when smiling, don’t you think?

By putting crowns on nerve-removed teeth, those teeth benefit from the effect of reinforcement and improve aesthetically. Now, the patient can smile often, and do so without worry.

The two front teeth on the right (the patient’s upper left teeth) in the before picture, were treated with all-ceramic crowns. In the after picture, you can see that not only has the look improved, but the gum inflammation around the teeth has healed. Can you distinguish the natural teeth from the crowned teeth in this picture?

At our clinic, the lab technician who makes crowns checks the color of the patient’s tooth firsthand, takes photos, and manufactures a replacement that is in harmony with the surrounding teeth of the patient. In this way, a patient with teeth characteristic of those in the picture above, can fully benefit from their natural teeth given at birth.

The patient in the picture above suffered from severe bruxism, and felt insecure about having teeth that appeared to have been shaved down. By combining different treatment options, this patient was finally able to re-acquire an appealing smile zone.

The patient in the picture above wore a partial denture after having lost a front tooth. It wasn’t satisfactorily functional or aesthetic. By adopting an all-ceramic bridge, the patient was able to achieve a satisfactory result aesthetically, functionally and hygienically. It’s hardly noticeable that the patient’s right front tooth is missing.
